My mother found the following prayer in my grandmother's booklet of Novenas:

May the God of Laughter be with you, blessing you with the inner joy that calls you to chuckle at your own seriousness

May your sense of humor lighten your heart and the hearts of those who share your journey

May your laughter bubble over to others, causing them to laugh and smile

I am pretty sure she wrote it herself.

JABBERWOCKY

Lewis Carroll
(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Okay I don't know why I'm still here because it makes no sense to me since my phoneline is no longer in this location and I have DSL. But my DSL is still running strong and smooth and allowing me to be here and online. So, wooo hooo!

:-)

Will be taking advantage of it until I get the computer over to the new place and find out just how much faster cable internet really is :-)

Tomorrow Cox Cable is installing our cable and phone -- and since the only furniture in the apartment is a TV set, LOL, I'm going to be offline because I switched this number over to that place and currently have DSL. The official move in date of beds, desks and computers isn't until next weekend.

ACK. I don't think I've gone that long with out Internet since 1997.

I'll be back though!

adam and toby
Adam wasn't quite sure when it happened, but somehow between actually finding the baby aisles in the local grocery and all purpose stores on the island he'd fallen in love with the baby. So much so he was talking Toby out of going to the correct authorites. Adam was positive they would take the baby away from them and they would never get her back -- and that was just not allowable.

He had money. His father had had a health scare two years ago and he'd flown to New York, Toby by his side the whole way, and somehow they'd made peace with each other. Still disagreed on everything but they'd made peace. This meant that Adam had his trust fund back, he'd been ignoring it though but this -- this was good enough reason to tap into it. He'd already called his father for the name of the best Private Investigator he knew and that person had all the details they had and was on the way to the cove.

The only other problem Adam could foresee, and he was sure Toby was thinking it too but was avoiding saying it was what if the baby was caught up the Tresum bullshit that ran rampant on the island. Adam knew he had to mention it, that even had to mention inviting Grace Neville into their home to see the baby.

It's why he'd made Toby an Adam special sandwich while he heated the baby formula. Toby was currently singing off key some Greek lullaby to the baby -- they needed to name her but Adam wanted to deal with the 'Magic' question first.

He walked out with the bottle and the sandwich. "Here I made you this, you haven't eaten all day."

Toby eyed him, the baby on his chest and made a face. "You just want to hold her."

Adam shrugged but didn't deny it. "You still need to eat as much as her, I'm feeding you both."

Toby rolled his eyes but he smiled in that way Adam knew he had Toby thinking. "Damn my man is cute."

They carefully exhanged sandwich and baby, and Adam settled down next to Toby on the couch. "So, um we need to talk about it."

"I just..."

"It has to happen."

"I hate that shit."

"She could be..."

"She's not, she's perfect."

"Toby, we need to be sure to protect her."

"And bringing those people will protect her."

"Grace is a mother, she won't mess with a parental bond..." Adam trailed off. "Dude, did I just say parental bond?" He watched his little girl drink down the formula, yeah his little girl.

Toby snickered but he was shaking his head looking just as in awe of the whole thing, staring at the baby. "Yeah...crap. Okay."

Adam sighed.

~~

Grace brought Griffin, they'd expected that. She also brought Bro and Kevin. Toby wasn't happy, Bro was still to be loathed, hated and not trusted in his opinion. Kevin, seeing Kevin despite knowing his heart belonged to Adam was always awkard because Kevin still gave him that look when he thought Bro and Adam weren't looking whenever they saw each other and it always hurt Toby that Kevin was still so hurt. He wouldn't change anything, he'd never been happier in his life -- though he suspected with the baby he was about to reach unexpected happy heights.

Toby re-balanced the weight of the baby and caught Adam's eye through their closed glass backdoor. The witches and warlocks had to use their "Starflower" so Adam couldn't even be in the house during the 'ceremony' they'd be performing to see if the baby had any connection to Tresum.

Grace stepped forward from the altar she'd built on their coffee table. "I'll need to hold her."

Toby stepped back, met Adam's eyes again. Adam looked wary but he nodded. Toby sighed, "just be careful."

Grace gave a slight impatient twitch of her mouth but graciously kept her mouth shut and carefully took the baby and stood next to Griffin. Bro stood by Griffin's side and Kevin's on Grace's and they all but Grace held a hand over the bowl and said some incantation that to Toby still sounded like bullshit poetry written by eight year olds.

Toby tried to be patient as they all stood there, faces unreadable inhaling the drug that had nearly ruined Adam's life -- he sure as hell hoped this was worth it.

adam and toby
Toby stared at the bundle on his and Adam's front step. It was a baby, he knew this but the only children ever seen on the island were Grace's toddlers or ghosts. Toby shook himself and bent down to check on the baby. When he moved the blanket the baby's tiny hand gripped his pinky. Toby felt his heart stop.
~~

Adam came home from his morning run and saw Toby, the phone crooked in his neck, holding a baby and cotton cloth. Toby looked up saw Adam and said: "We have anything we can use as a baby carrier? Sorry, Ma, Adam just came home -- So, I fold the cloth how to use it as a diaper?"

Adam blinked, then wondered briefly if he ran passed anyone smoking saint but he felt way too lucid. He cleared his throat. "Dude! What the fuck is going on!"

Toby looked up, his frowned, "Don't swear in front of the baby."

Adam stared, told himself not to think that was one of the cutest things Toby's ever said or done and repeated himself. "What the fuck is going on?"

"Ma, I gotta call you back." Toby said then realized his hands were full, so he walked over and handed Adam the baby. Adam took it without thinking and held it in front him like it was something alien and strange.

"Like a football," Toby muttered as he got rid of the cell phone.

Adam rearranged the kid in his arms. "What, why...why am I holding a baby."

Toby sighed and ran a hand overhis face. "I'm not sure really." He walked over the kitchen table and picked up a rumbled piece of paper. "She was on the front steps, when I picked her up, I saw this note under her." Toby took a breath and read. "I've been watching you and your boyfriend for years, I know you two are the only ones I can trust with my baby. Please raise her."

Adam nearly dropped the baby but managed not too and he wanted to yell but nothing seemed to come out of his mouth.

I just realized I just told Cox Cable/Telephone that they can transfer this number to my new place -- it should happen in about four days, so if I disappear it's because I'm without Internet Access during my move, since this connetion is DSL and requires my phone line.

Right now however, I am going to go watch Dante's Cove and go into zombie mode. Well it's not a Holiday now. PROMPT ME PLEASE, I beg of you. I'll even be more specific this time, give me anything you want, I might even try to write something original but if you want a fandom related thing here are the fandoms I'll do:

Firefly: Gen, Mal/River, Inara/Kaylee, Simon/Jayne
The Forsaken: Nick/Sean (I might be willing to try Kerr/Fehr RPS)
Dante's Cove: Adam/Toby
Chuck: Ellie/Awesome, Chuck/Sarah
Supernatural: Sam & Dean (platonic, fraternal love only) RPS Jared & Jensen (also fraternal, platonic only), Misha/Jensen, Jensen/Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jared/Sandy (because honestly I was really upset they broke up, LOL).
Bones: Seeley/Temperance, Angela/Hodgins, or I might try Wendell/Hodgins for those who love it that I love and I did enjoy what I saw!
Angel: Cordelia/Angel or anything gen with whole gang (that same goes for Firefly).

Or you can just give me something random and take what I give, I'm only promising to try :-)

So I've already posted (here) about in two episodes of Supernatural I noticed how there were missing scenes on the disk I recorded them on in my DVD player. Well I had a lovely friend who still uses a VCR and the full scene in on his tape. So I borrowed the tape. Record the whole show, the EXACT SAME BIT IS MISSING on my DVD recording. So, I try experiment, start taping at the beginning of the missing bit. I hit record, it records for 2 seconds then the record light indicator starts to blink as if it is paused -- and doesn't/won't unpause until the point where it always comes in on the previous attempts to record this episode. Today because I'm stubborn I tried to start recording at various points during the 'unrecordable' chunk and the DVD Recorder won't even start recording until it's to the point where it magically starts again.

So this is definitely some digital non-record signal the Network and/or affliate is putting out right? What is that? Why is that? And should it even be allowed? Eesh.

~~

In other news I've finally fully achieved living in the digital age and have a cell phone :-)

Also my best friend and I are looking for apartments and have put down a deposit/filled out the application on an awesome apartment right near where I already live. Cross your fingers please.

This is not an update.
